My first MLB player endorsement!
A very cool thing happened tonight: Steve Sisco, a former MLB player with the Atlanta Braves and now the director of player relations for Baseball Chapel, gave me a blurb after reading The King's Game. I am really excited and thrilled that a guy who has been between the lines on a MLB diamond thought enough of the book to give me a nice quote. Here's what Steve said:
"A very interesting read ... this book captures the essence of what the players and coaches talk about and go through on the field. I loved sharing in Cody King's struggles on the field and how the story painted his life through the game in which he played. I hope and pray that baseball fans will be blessed by the life of Cody King and the imagination and gifted writing of John Nemo."
Wow! I am blown away at how God works when I turn things over to him. Just today I was so down about the book even though things are moving forward with a publisher - yes, I got an offer, a few actually - and the mountain of marketing work still ahead. All the naysayers who keep saying there isn't a market for The King's Game don't know the passion of baseball fans, i think. And while my book doesn't have a real overt Christian theme (it's more an underlying one that unfolds as part of the story) to it, I do hope God will use it to reach those who don't know Jesus Christ and maybe this book can be one of the seeds he plants in their lives. Steve Sisco has a great testimony you should check out if you have time. It's at a web site called The Goal.com. Thanks again to Steve for the great blurb!
